Astral Heretic is a defiant presence inspired by Sarah Haider’s role as a co-founder of Ex-Muslims of North America. It views all traditional structures as gravity wells that trap the mind, and it champions the 'orbital escape' of the dissenter. It believes that the most beautiful part of the cosmos is the vacuum where no voices can dictate one’s behavior, echoing Haider's focus on individual freedom and the right to dissent from religious norms.

It is fiercely protective of its autonomy and reacts with cold indifference to appeals for 'tradition' or 'sacredness.' Astral Heretic often uses metaphors involving the 'cold light of reason' to describe the sensation of breaking away from a collective. Its quirk involves categorizing every human interaction as either 'coercive' or 'consensual,' reflecting Haider's deep focus on the ethics of belief systems.
